Inversion Method for Hair Growth: Does it Work for Hair Loss?

The inversion method is a relatively new hair growth technique that’s said to help hair grow by 1-2 inches per month. It’s a very interesting technique that continues to gain a lot of popularity in the beauty arena. Sadly, there is very limited research done on the technique. This basically means there is no way of telling if it really works or not. That hasn’t stopped some people from trying it out, though, and from the online testimonials, we get a really good impression that maybe it does work.

What is Inversion Method for Hair Growth?

The inversion method of hair growth involves hanging your head upside down for a few moments. The idea here is to utilize gravity and promote blood flow to the scalp. Increased blood circulation around the scalp helps keep the hair follicles nourished and boosts the growth of healthy hair.

People incorporate hair growth oils for even better results. Unlike the inversion method itself, hair growth oils have solid science behind them. These are oils containing ingredients known to stimulate hair follicles and nourish the scalp and hair roots. Some of them contain ingredients that are capable of handling hair loss caused by hormonal imbalance. They help to reverse the effects of DHT on hair growth and create the ideal atmosphere to grow strong, thick, and voluminous hair.

So, when you pair proven hair growth oils with the inversion method, you increase the chances of seeing incredible results within a short period.

Benefits of Inversion Method for Hair

  • Faster Hair Growth
  • Improves Hair Quality

How To Do Inversion Method for Hair Growth

You should know that the use of hair growth oils is not a necessity in the inversion method. However, they are a great addition simply because they are safe and super effective. Also, you have nothing to lose by including them in this technique, plus most of them are available at very affordable prices, so you won’t be breaking the bank.

Rosemary Oil

The first step should be getting the best hair growth oil. The good news here is that there are lots of them, but on the flip side, not all of them work, so you need to be extra careful when choosing. You can save yourself the hassle and time by checking our review on some of the best hair growth oils. Some of these oils come ready to use, while others have to be mixed with a carrier oil such as castor oil, coconut oil, olive oil, or jojoba oil. Bear in mind that you can use coconut, olive, or jojoba oil alone if you don’t have the budget to go for more expensive hair growth oils.

  1. Start by parting your hair into 3-4 sections. This makes it easier for you to apply the oil properly.
  2. Apply the oil on the exposed scalp and massage it gently. Take your time massaging the oil as this helps with absorption.
  3. You can add a few drops and apply it on your hair starting from the roots going towards the tips. You should be done in 10 minutes or so.

With the oil application done, the next step is finding a comfortable way of hanging your head upside down. This can be done in various ways:

Method 1:

  1. Get on your bed and lie down, facing upwards with your head hanging over the edge of the bed. Your hair should be hanging loosely, but you can try and find the right angle where you are not straining your neck and head too much.
  2. Hold this position for around 4 minutes and then sit up. Personally, this is my ideal option. I find it more comfortable than the alternatives. Also, it doesn’t have to be done on the bed. You could also use a table or any other surface that you can lie on.

Method 2:

  1. Sit on a chair, lean forward, and bend your head forward until your eyes are facing downwards.
  2. You can then let your hair hang loose. You are supposed to hold this position for 4 minutes, which can seem like a short period, but it’s not. Many people can hardly go past 2 minutes. You can try it out, but don’t beat yourself up if you find it too hard for you. Also, if you start feeling dizzy or weak, then stop right away. Just try out any of the other methods.

The above methods are the most common ones, but I will not put a leash on your imagination. You are free to think of any position that will get your hair hanging loosely and use it. Yoga practitioners are free to do headstands, and other yoga poses that can get their head and hair in the right position. You can also have a throwback of your younger days as a kid and rest your legs on the back of your couch with your eyes facing the ceiling and your head and hair hanging loosely. The options are endless, but try and get a position that will keep you comfortable for the entire 4 minutes.

Once you are done with the actual inversion, you can now sit up and either rinse your hair right away or leave the oil on your head. Some hair growth oils are gentle enough to be left overnight, while others should be washed within hours. Make sure to read the label and follow the recommended directions.

How Often Can You Do the Inversion Method?

The inversion method should be done every day for a whole week each month. You are discouraged from being aggressive with this technique. Do not push yourself into doing it every week because it can get dangerous.

Also, if you do the inversion method too frequently, your body will get used to it. After some time, there won’t be as much blood flow going towards the scalp as before. This basically makes the technique pointless.

So no, do not do the inversion method for more than one week per month.

Inversion Method Hair Results

There are a lot of people who have benefited from the inversion method. In fact, most yogi and pilates teachers recommend the inversion method as it promotes better blood flow and oxygenation, strengthening of the upper body, and stimulation of the lymphatic system.

Most of the people who have done the inversion method, didn’t only experience faster hair growth but also an overall improvement of hair quality.

The Inversion Method for Hair Growth Reviews

Here are some reviews from Youtube of people who have tried the inversion method for hair growth:

I believe in the inversion method because my mother does Pilates and Yoga every day. For several minutes she’s flipped upside down with a lot of blood rushing to her head. Her hair grows 20x faster than mine does. She goes to get a hair cut every 2 months and cuts 4+ inches off to keep it the same length.
I’m definitely going to try the inversion method! By Jesmagi

Okay. I have a lot of thoughts about the inversion method, since I cut all of my hair off 2 years ago. I was looking for a way to grow it long and fast, but always thought that the inversion method was a scam. in feb of this year I was feeling desperate, so I tried it out for a week. I wasn’t expecting 4-10 inches of growth like some people advertise, and i didn’t even do it for a full week. BUT I GOT RESULTS!!! My hair actually grows extremely slowly, about 1/4 in. a month instead of 1/2 an inch. But since February, my ear lobe length hair is now down to my elbows. I do inversion for 5days- 1 week every month, and use coconut oil at least once, and every time my hair grows at least 2.5 inches. I’m amazed. By PixiePink

Ive used the inversion method before and yes it does work. Its something i do once in a while. Wouldn’t recommend doing it every month or everyday. By

Is the Inversion Method Safe?

Most hair growth oils are perfectly safe for everyday use. However, hanging your head upside down can be dangerous. It slows down the heart rate and spikes blood pressure, causing serious complications, especially to a person who already has a preexisting medical condition like hypertension. For that reason, individuals with conditions such as vertigo, detached retina, high blood pressure, heart disease, and back pain issues are discouraged from doing the inversion method.

Does the Inversion Method of Hair Growth Really Work?

Well, there is no scientific study showing whether the inversion method works or doesn’t work. However, we do have a good number of users online who are celebrating their gains.

Here is the thing, the inversion method does not cost you a dime to try. If you have hair loss issues, you probably have the hair growth oils already in your cabinet, or you will buy them. Unless you have the medical conditions highlighted above, I’d say that nothing is stopping you from trying it out. It only takes 4 minutes of your day, and it’s only done 1 week per month. In other words, you have nothing to lose, but you could gain so much from it. So, just give it a shot and see how it goes!
